A branch of plum blossom runs across the body of the cup in fine black ink. The plum is among the first trees to flower as winter ends, which is why it carries the spring cup.

가는 먹선으로 그린 매화 가지가 컵의 몸통을 가로지릅니다. 매화는 겨울이 끝날 무렵 가장 먼저 피는 꽃 가운데 하나여서, 봄의 컵에 담았습니다.

Slender iris leaves rise from the base of the cup, with a single bloom drawn in clear black lines. Irises open in early summer, and we wanted the cup to feel as cool and clear as that season.

컵의 아랫부분에서 솟아오르는 가는 붓꽃 잎과 한 송이 꽃을 맑은 먹선으로 그렸습니다. 붓꽃은 초여름에 피는 꽃으로, 그 계절처럼 시원하고 맑은 느낌을 담고자 했습니다.

A full chrysanthemum, drawn petal by petal in black ink. The chrysanthemum flowers late in the year, after most other blooms have gone, and is the flower we associate with autumn.

한 잎 한 잎 먹선으로 그려 낸 국화입니다. 국화는 다른 꽃들이 대부분 지고 난 늦은 계절에 피어, 가을을 떠올리게 하는 꽃입니다.

A crane stands beneath a bough of pine, with a small moon above. Pine stays green through winter and the crane is a traditional symbol of long life, so together they make the quietest cup of the four.

소나무 가지 아래 학이 서 있고, 그 위에 작은 달이 떠 있습니다. 소나무는 겨울에도 푸르고 학은 예로부터 장수를 뜻하는 상징이어서, 네 컵 가운데 가장 고요한 컵이 되었습니다.
